Rinoplastia un asunto multidisciplinario

Desde la época del antiguo Egipto, la rinoplastia ha jugado un papel fundamental en el desarrollo del campo tanto de la Cirugía Plástica como de la Otorrinolaringología, despertando el interés de ambas especialidades, por desarrollar técnicas quirúrgicas que permitan mejores resultados en los pacientes a nivel funcional y estético. Es por ello por lo que principalmente de finales del Siglo XIX, ha habido un claro interés de diversos cirujanos por determinar los principios básicos que determinen una cirugía exitosa y que permitan entregar al paciente resultados satisfactorios que en primera medida evoquen en un mejor flujo de aire nasal, en segunda medida una satisfactoria mejora del aspecto nasal y por último la elección de una técnica que impida la necesidad de una cirugía de revisión. En este artículo, hablaremos de los aspectos principales que reúne la realización de una rinoplastia, las principales patologías que derivan en la necesidad de realización de esta cirugía y las diferencias que hay en la actualidad en el desarrollo por parte de la Cirugía Plástica y la Otorrinolaringología, así como el manejo interdisciplinar de la misma.
