Fracturas osteolíticas del adulto y el niño como factor pronóstico en malignidad idiopática

Resumen

Las fracturas patológicas son lesiones donde la perdida de la continuidad ósea ocurre por situaciones biomecánicamente normales, debido a factores intrínsecos de su integridad estructural o por lesiones secundarias. La malignidad como una de sus causas, puede derivarse de tumores de origen primario de hueso o metástasis de otros órganos y afecta de manera variable a adultos y niños, aunque las características y repercusiones pueden ser heterogéneas. Las lesiones osteolíticas tienen como característica la destrucción del tejido óseo, incluyendo adelgazamiento cortical, perdida de componente medular y en el caso de lesiones malignas presentar una masa de tejido blando.

La carga de morbilidad tiene un impacto en términos de calidad de vida, discapacidad, dolor y muerte, por la enfermedad persé o por los efectos que se deriven del tratamiento, por lo que en esta revisión haremos un abordaje de las principales lesiones osteolíticas del niño y el adulto de origen incierto que se asocian a malignidad.
