Aportes interdisciplinarios de la ultrasonografía en el diagnóstico y seguimiento y manejo del túnel del Carpo

El síndrome del túnel de carpo es la neuropatía por compresión más frecuente en los
miembros superiores a nivel mundial, con una mayor prevalencia en mujeres. Su
diagnóstico se realiza clínicamente por su sintomatología y hallazgos en el examen físico,
confirmados con frecuencia con la electromiografía y otros estudios. Los criterios de la
ecografía para el diagnóstico del síndrome del túnel del carpo se han vuelto más útiles,
obteniendo una serie de ventajas que son: mayor tolerancia al realizar el examen, menor
costo, permite una evaluación y diagnóstico más fácil, proporcionando un buen índice de
gravedad y un buen detalle de las variantes anatómicas, así como la posibilidad de medir
parámetros del nervio mediano, flujo sanguíneo, y movilidad. En cuanto a tratamiento
podemos realizar infiltraciones bajo guía ecografía, cirugías guiadas por ultrasonido y
seguimiento con controles ecográficos para visualizar su respuesta terapéutica en
pacientes con diagnóstico de síndrome del túnel carpo.
