Abstract

Optic nerve sheath ultrasound is a tool that could be used for diagnosing intracranial
hypertension, particularly in the context of severe traumatic brain injury. It is a sensitive and
specific test, readily available at the patient’s bedside, which allows for quick decision-making
and timely interventions. Additionally, it provides data that can serve as predictors of mortality.
However, it should be considered a complementary study and not a replacement for the invasive
methods commonly used in daily practice.
