Reconstructing a breast means more than an aesthetic procedure, it becomes a functional and
emotional return to the patient. Which requires quite a bit of operator expertise. Today there are
different techniques that allow the patient to be exposed to the best surgical option with the use
of implants, pedicle or free flaps, reduction with and without breast pexy, among others that have
just been proposed. During this systematic review of the literary evidence, it is intended to address
each of the above techniques, as well as to support the surgeon’s daily practice. In the same way,
we will precisely return to the importance of the initial approach based on the patient’s medical
history, her risk factors and family support. Finally, this communication aims to update the treating
physician regarding the different alternatives that Plastic Surgery can offer to the patient facing
a mastectomy for cancer, be it partial or complete, as well as the advantages, disadvantages and
indications of each one.
Breast Reconstruction is a broad and demanding field of Plastic Surgery that requires management
in the aesthetic and reparative field. There are numerous techniques that allow offering the best
indication for each patient, such as the use of implants, pedicle and free flaps, and breast reduction
and pexy. The objective of this article is to present the current state of Breast Reconstruction
surgery. In addition, a reconstruction suggestion is presented for each of the most frequent
